99 Days of Crochet - Day 95 Spaced Dips

This looks suspiciously like Dip Stitch. It didn't take too long to work up, and I like the colors I chose. I was worried it would be too bright, but the white really helped blend the colors.

I used Loops and Threads Impeccable White and Red Heart Super Saver Turqua and Petal Pink yarns with a J hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 94 Bobbled Rib

My finished square didn't look much like the book's photo, but it wasn't any more interesting anyway. It took a while to do because the stitches are all single crochet height, and began folding so after the first few rows I switched from double posts to half triple posts.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Carrot yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 93 Lace Bands

This stitch is pretty similar to yesterday's stitch, and also began to roll up until I switched to my half triple stitch to make up the height.

I used Craft Smart Value Navy yarn with an I hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 92 Cable & Shell Duo

This is a pretty basic design. I don't like how it rolled up a bit. I still can't figure out if it's due to the type of yarn or needing triple crochet posts instead, or both.

I used Craft Smart Value Gray yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 91 Regal

I really like this stitch, simply because it used chains to make the double crochet stitches appear sideways which is pretty neat. Both the front and the back of the square turned out well, so this one would look great as a scarf.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Turqua with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 90 Open Chevron

This square took very little time to work up, due to it being all double and half-double crochet. However, it took me a while to get the first chevrons row, but then I realized I was just reading the pattern wrong! The back posts were a bit hard to pull off and I'm not sure I've perfected the technique for those, but the square was fast and easy otherwise.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Petal Pink yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 89 Stand-Out Posts

This stitch is quite simple, but I really like it. This would be another great candidate for a scarf or afghan.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Medium Purple yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 88 Interruption

I really like the colors I chose for this pattern. It called for front post double crochets, but those made the whole square curl too much (I did them for the first three rows), and triple (double treble) crochet was too tall. Instead, I switched to a half triple stitch that was exactly the right length.

Instructions for half triple (double treble) stitch:
Yarn over twice. Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull through two loops. Yarn over, pull through remaining three loops on hook.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Petal Pink, Turqua, and Medium Purple yarns with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 87 Shell Spires

This stitch is fairly boring. It's not very unique except for the very tips of the "spires," for which I had no idea what the instructions were saying so I had to improvise a bit. They didn't turn out very good but the book's picture doesn't look any better so I'd say it was a success overall.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Carrot yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 86 Boxed Clusters

I quite like this stitch, and I'm glad I used yellow yarn; the clusters look a lot like bananas! This is a pretty light stitch so it would make a good summer scarf, and it's simple enough for anyone to do.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Bright Yellow yarn with a J hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 85 Bricks

This is a simple pattern and pretty similar to some others in the book, but still nice. I decided to use two bright contrasting colors this time, instead of matching colors or something with white. I really like it when a square turns out nice and flat and rectangular.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Bright Yellow and Caron One Pound Royalty yarns with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 84 Snug as a Bug

I have to say, this stitch is very... interesting. Perhaps pink was not the best color for this stitch, but the book's demo used brown yarn so it was impossible to see what the pattern was before I started.

I used Lion Brand Pound of Love Pastel Pink yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 83 Full Bloom

I actually quite like how this turned out. It didn't curl up, and didn't take forever to work up because it's in half double crochet. This color was a bit difficult to photograph with the popcorn stitch, but it looks nice in person.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Pumpkin yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 82 Broken Stripes

I just had to pick some bright colors to keep this one lighthearted, since I couldn't take this so-called "stitch" seriously. It's literally just double crochet with switching colors every so often. Maybe it would make a better actual flag than a stitch.

I used a K hook with Red Heart Super Saver Pumpkin, Pale Yellow, and Spring Green yarns.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 81 Large Diamonds

This square was quite disappointing. It seemed like every row I was missing a stitch or couldn't find the stitch where I was supposed to work next, and the whole thing folded over so much it made the square much smaller than it should be.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Petal Pink yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 80 Chiseled Columns

This is an.. interesting stitch. I'm not too fond of it, but it's different enough than other stitches to make it unique.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Burgundy yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 79 Hourglass II

This Hourglass pattern turned out much better than the first! Though it curls a bit, the post shapes are more defined. That might be due to the thicker yarn, but also this one was single crochet so the posts weren't trying to stretch as far. This stitch might be interesting with two colors alternating or even multiple colors in the non-post rows.

I used Caron One Pound Blue yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 78 Hourglass I

I wanted to like this stitch, but my version didn't turn out very well. The double crochet post stitches turned out too short and pulled the square into a curl, so I switched to triple crochet posts at the ends. That didn't seem to help much, though, and overall the stitch was quite disappointing.

I used Craft Smart Value Gray yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 77 Dynamic Diamonds

I was quite looking forward to this square, and I was not disappointed in it. I am however disappointed that I somehow did a row twice, and as a result the pattern got flipped to the other side at one point. There are an even number of rows in the repeat so it shouldn't have reversed, but I wasn't about to go back and redo half of the square to fix it.

I used Lion Brand Pound of Love Pastel Pink with an I hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 76 Accent

I really like this stitch, it's lacy and simple, and I think it would make a good scarf or afghan. I wonder if my like of this pattern has anything to do with the fact that it's pink?

I used Red Heart Super Saver Petal Pink yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 75 Simple Bands

This square is simple, but pretty. It's light but still warm, and would make a good afghan. The ridges are only on one side as well, making for a reversible look.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Pumpkin yarn with an I hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 74 Posted V's

I quite like this stitch. It has front and back posts, V shapes, ridges, thick areas, and thin areas. I'm not sure though if it would be good for an afghan or scarf, but it certainly looks nice as a square, and is very easy and quick to work up.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Pale Yellow yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 73 La Petite

This stitch is entirely unimpressive, and took longer than I'd like even though it was mostly double crochet. Overall, I wasn't very excited to finish it, as the book's photo was uninspiring as well. I've been unlucky with the last few stitches and I'm struggling to keep going at a good pace, but I'm determined to finish.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Amethyst yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 72 Sharp Chevrons

This chevron stitch is actually quite nice looking, but it's very thick and time consuming compared to other double crochet ripples. I didn't make it 5" by 7" because it wouldn't fit in the finished afghan anyway because of the intense ripples. That and I was still traumatized from yesterday's square and got impatient.

I used Lion Brand Pound of Love Pastel Pink yarn with a K hook.

99 Days of Crochet - Day 71 Lace Shells

I have to say this is the most.... interesting, and ridiculous stitches I've worked with so far. It's not particularly difficult, but I spent a lot of time counting stitches and trying to find the next stitch. Not only that, but the giant spikes get in the way of working so it was incredibly slow going.

After a few rows of working with Lion Brand Pound of Love Pastel Pink yarn with an H hook, I wished I had picked a thicker yarn so I would only have to do 2 picot-rings per row and it would be taller faster, but I didn't want to stop and restart. Then I realized I only had about an inch done and it would be faster if I switched at that point, so I restarted and chose a larger hook as well.

I used Red Heart Super Saver Petal Pink yarn and a K hook (because I was too lazy to pick a color I hadn't worked with in a while).
