I couldn't really understand the pattern made by this stitch in the book's photo, but my version turned out quite nice, I think. It's lacy but not too lacy. The ridge gives it a bit of texture both on the front and back, due to the rows folding in on themselves a bit. This stitch might be nice for a light scarf.
I used CraftSmart Value Bright Red and an H hook.
